Demand Forecasting & Planning

Turn fragmented market signals into one trusted demand plan.

Construction demand rarely moves smoothly. Projects get delayed, tenders shift, regional activity changes, and weather disrupts demand. Your teams need to spot those changes early and turn them into a plan the business can act on.

Quantics Demand Forecasting brings data and planner knowledge together to create a trusted demand plan for sales, production, inventory, and finance.

  • Improve forecast accuracy across your portfolio - align forecasts across products, plants, and regions, with up to 80% relative improvement in forecast accuracy and reduction in bias versus advanced bottom-up approaches.
  • Bring local market knowledge into the plan - account for delayed projects, lost tenders, or major customer wins and measure whether those adjustments improve the forecast.
  • Plan for uncertainty, not just one number - understand the range of likely demand to make better inventory and production decisions.
  • Know where your forecast is working - and where it isn't - track accuracy, bias, and service-level impact with business-relevant KPIs.
  • Connect demand to financial outcomes - translate forecasts into revenue, margin, cost, and budget views, and model pricing scenarios for commercial planning.

Inventory Management

Hold the right inventory - not simply more inventory.

For construction material manufacturers, inventory is more than working capital. Limited silo, warehouse and yard capacity, long supplier lead times and product-specific handling requirements mean poor inventory policies quickly become operational problems. Some materials deteriorate during storage, while fragile products such as sanitaryware risk breakage every time they are moved. Holding the wrong inventory can be just as costly as holding too little. Your teams need to protect availability without tying up unnecessary cash or capacity.

Quantics Inventory Management connects demand directly to replenishment and buffer decisions, helping each plant balance service levels, inventory investment, and real-world constraints.

  • Hold the right stock for the demand ahead - use point forecasts for predictable demand or probabilistic forecasts where uncertainty matters, with the system automatically translating either into replenishment recommendations and optimized safety stock.
  • Choose the policy that works best - compare conventional inventory approaches and DDMRP side by side before making changes.
  • Keep inventory policies aligned with reality - let AI continuously adjust recommended policy parameters as demand volatility, lead times, and service-level targets change.
  • Plan within real storage constraints - account for silo, warehouse, and yard capacity when deciding what to replenish and when.

Production Planning

Build production plans that work in the real world.

Production planning is rarely about capacity alone. Material availability, storage, changeovers, production campaigns, and long lead times all determine what can actually be produced. Your teams need to turn demand into a feasible plan while identifying risks before they disrupt operations.

Quantics Production Planning connects demand with real production constraints, helping planners evaluate alternatives and make confident decisions before committing resources.

  • Build plans that work in the real world - balance demand with production capacity, material availability, and storage constraints in one planning process.
  • Prepare for disruptions before they happen - simulate demand changes, supplier delays, equipment outages, or large customer orders and see how they affect the plan.
  • Spot what puts the plan at risk - let the system identify whether capacity, materials, or storage are creating constraints so teams can act early.
  • Choose the best production plan - compare scenarios and understand their operational and financial impact before committing to execution.

Cockpit

Keep every plant aligned on the same planning picture.

Acquisitions often leave planning teams working across different ERP systems, spreadsheets, and local processes. Your teams need group-wide visibility and consistent performance measures while preserving the flexibility individual plants need to operate effectively.

Quantics Cockpit brings planning performance into one environment, giving teams a shared view of what is happening, where attention is needed, and what it means for the business.

  • See where attention is needed - monitor planning performance and operational deviations across plants in real time.
  • Compare performance consistently - standardize planning KPIs across the group without requiring every site to adopt the same ERP.
  • Understand the business impact of disruptions - translate missed deliveries, cancelled orders, or unplanned outages into financial impact, not just operational metrics.
  • Keep everyone aligned - give planners, operations teams, and executives a shared view of demand, inventory, production, logistics, and financial performance.
  • Go from overview to root cause - drill from group-level performance into individual plants, products, or planning exceptions.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our solutions and how they benefit your operations.

We already use SAP. Why would we need Quantics?

Quantics adds best-in-class forecasting and planning capabilities to enable better business decisions, while your ERP remains the system of record and manages operational execution. Its modular architecture also allows you to enhance or replace individual planning capabilities - such as demand forecasting and planning - without changing your existing ERP landscape or specialized planning solution.

Should we start with Demand Forecasting specifically, or another module?

Most customers start with Demand Forecasting & Planning because the forecast provides the central planning signal for downstream processes. It is also our most widely used module. As you expand your planning capabilities, Inventory Management and Production Planning build on the same forecas

How does Quantics handle different demand patterns across our product portfolio?

Construction material manufacturers rarely face one uniform demand pattern. Bagged products may be highly seasonal, concrete products may vary by region, while pipes or construction chemicals can be driven by individual large projects. Quantics allows different forecasting and planning approaches by product, site, and demand pattern without fragmenting planning across the business.

What data do we need to get started with Quantics?

The required data depends on the module. For a simple starting point, we recommend demand planning. In most cases, this requires at least two years of historical sales data together with the relevant product master data. Additional information - such as orders, blanket orders, or further market signals - can be added gradually at a later stage.

How does Quantics account for differences between our plants and production processes?

A cement plant plans differently from a manufacturer of bricks, pipes, or sanitary products. Each plant can therefore reflect its relevant constraints, parameters, and planning logic - from silo and warehouse capacity to material availability, changeovers, and production campaigns - while the wider group works from a consistent planning foundation.

How can we ensure our planners trust AI-based recommendations?

Planners need to understand why a plan changes. Quantics therefore combines AI-based forecasts and recommendations with the knowledge of your teams. Manual adjustments remain possible, and their impact can be measured. This keeps AI from becoming a black box and helps planners make better, more transparent decisions.

How do we measure whether Quantics is delivering value across our supply chain network?

Success should not be measured by forecast accuracy alone. What matters is whether better planning leads to business outcomes - such as higher service levels, lower safety stock, reduced working capital, fewer short-term production changes, or better use of storage and production capacity. Quantics therefore connects planning KPIs with operational and financial impact.

What kind of external data can be used for the construction materials & products industry?

With the Quantics External Data Hub, you can enrich planning with macroeconomic data, commodity prices, holidays, and industry-specific signals such as building permits, housing indices, and construction output. Any other relevant external or internal data you already use can also be integrated seamlessly.

How is Quantics adapted to the construction materials and products industry?

Quantics was co-developed with leading manufacturers in the construction materials and products industry to address the sector's specific and complex planning challenges. These include project-driven and seasonal demand, regional differences, limited storage capacity, and complex production constraints. With its modular design, flexible integrations, and extensive configuration options, Quantics can be tailored to the specific requirements of your business and plants

Can Quantics Forecasting deliver additional benefits if we already have a sophisticated forecasting solution in place?

Yes. Across numerous projects with manufacturing companies that already have sophisticated forecasting solutions in place, Quantics Forecasting has consistently delivered further improvements. At the most detailed demand forecasting unit (DFU) level, it has achieved higher forecast accuracy, while at aggregated planning levels, it has delivered relative forecast accuracy improvements of up to 70–80% compared with customers' existing forecasting solutions, together with significantly lower forecast bias. These improvements provide substantial value for tactical and operational planning decisions, including capacity planning and financial planning.

Does Quantics support planning for businesses that have B2B and B2C clients?

Yes. Quantics is designed for manufacturers that sell exclusively B2B or in a mix of B2B and B2C. The platform offers unique functions for this environment - including special planning features for sales representatives, seamless integration of framework agreements, and the ability to incorporate customer forecasts. These capabilities ensure optimal and faster planning across different customer structures and markets.
